Smudging Bowls – made from abalone shell and cedar wood, this bowl is used to burn smudging leaves or incense. Traditionally, abalone shells were used in smudging and sacred ceremonies. The shell represents water, a gift from the ocean, the feather represents a gift from our wind friends and is used to distribute the smoke. The feather is used to brush and guide the smoke to the direction it needs to go to smudge and cleanse a particular space. This smudge bowl may also be used to catch any residue or ash when using a smudge stick, as well as to put out the lit end of your smudge stick when finished. Smudging can be used to cleanse an object such as a personal belonging, a location such as home, office, or car, as well as individuals, cleansing mind, body and soul by shifting any negative energy and replacing it with positive energy.
